Winter 2017/18

Dear Friends,

The Christmas concerts were very successful beginning at St. Peter's Church in Horbury, with Horbury Victoria Band in what has become our usual curtain raiser for our Christmas programme. This was followed by our 40th Christmas concert in Wakefield Cathedral, where over £300 was raised for The Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The choir from Wakefield Girls Junior School were again excellent guests. The concert at Dewsbury Town Hall with Black Dyke Band was one of the best we have given, despite slightly reduced numbers due to illness. Everyone rose to the occasion and we came off stage knowing that we had performed really well and Jane was delighted that all her hard work had paid off! Our final concert of 2017 saw us join with Penistone Ladies Choir.

Our collaboration with Penistone Ladies continued in January when we joined with them to produce a Christmas CD whilst the pieces were still fresh in our memory. The CD will feature both individual choirs and a few joint items and will be on sale in Autumn 2018.

After our recording session we have a few months to build our concert repertoire and learn the test piece for the Esdkale Festival in Whitby Pavilion, as we try to retain our male voice title there.

As always if you have family or friends who would like to become a patron or join the choir please get in touch.
