Poetic Review of Patrons’ Concert 2025

A beautiful poetic review of our Patrons’ Concert at Sandal Methodist Church on June 7th 2025. Thank you Pauline for your lovely words.

MUSIC ON A JUNE EVENING

The Skelmanthorpe Choir were beautifully in tune,

At their Patrons’ Concert on the Seventh of June.

The opening number ‘Do You Hear the People Sing’,

Apt for the occasion – an energetic fling.

‘The Wayfaring Stranger’ which is my favourite of all,

So meaningfully blended the notes did fall.

A Beatles medley finished the spot,

And then a fantastic treat we got.

Their special guest was special indeed.

A wonderful voice we all agreed.

Not just a singer, she acted the part,

And sang with emotion right from the heart.

The Choir returned in Beach Boy mode,

And their ‘Game of Thrones’ did certainly explode.

As a Chorister myself I know enough,

That this was very challenging stuff.

The Interval gave us a chance to chat.

With some tasty food, no doubt of that.

Then the Choir returned to gain more fame,

With ‘There is Nothing Like a Dame’.

Suzi again in a different style.

Well known pieces which made us smile.

So warm and haunting is her voice.

‘Feed the Birds’ was my special choice.

The Choir returned for the final spot.

‘Seal Lullaby’ I liked a lot.

‘Rhythm of Life’ I usually hate,

But admit their rendition was really great.

The Finale was an absolute joy.

The Choir and Suzi with ‘Danny Boy’.

A beautiful ending to a lovely show,

As off to our beds we all did go.

Jane has her choir at her fingertips.

With communication she gets to grips.

Together with Tim, a master of the keys.

This Choir will always continue to please.
